The Story Behind the Westbury Brand

Westbury is the aluminum railing brand of Digger Specialties, Inc., founded in 1984 by Loren “Digger” Graber in Bremen, Indiana. The company began by serving lumberyards across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio before expanding nationally.

DSI entered the aluminum railing category in 2007, and Westbury grew quickly into a leading name for outdoor living. The line now spans Tuscany, Riviera, Montego, Veranda, Bella Cavo and the VertiCable system introduced in 2015 for vertical stainless cable infill.

Manufacturing stays in Bremen, where extrusions are inspected, cleaned and powder coated in-house. Alongside guardrail, the catalog covers ADA continuous handrail, ScreenRail enclosures, drink rail adapters, post wraps, gates, hardware and deck lighting.

Westbury Railing Questions Answered

Practical guidance on colors, codes, measuring, cleaning and lead times, gathered from the questions homeowners ask most.

Who manufactures Westbury aluminum railing?

Westbury is a registered brand of Digger Specialties, Inc., an outdoor living products manufacturer based in Bremen, Indiana. Railing, fencing, columns and lighting are produced at the same facility.

How many standard colors are offered?

Twelve standard AAMA 2604 powder-coated colors and textures are available, including satin black, textured bronze, gloss white, speckled walnut and sandy shore. Custom color programs and higher-grade AAMA 2605 finishes can be ordered.

Which series suits a view-first deck?

VertiCable uses vertical stainless cables spaced three inches apart, while Bella Cavo runs thin horizontal cables. Veranda swaps infill for clear, grey or bronze glass panels when openness matters most.

Does the railing meet building code?

Standard 36-inch and 42-inch guardrail heights are engineered to satisfy residential and commercial code requirements. Local inspectors may have added conditions, so confirming height and spacing with the permit office before ordering is wise.

How much maintenance does aluminum need?

Very little. Aluminum will not rot, warp or rust, and the cured finish resists chalking. Rinsing with a garden hose and washing occasionally with mild soap keeps sections looking new.

Can the system be installed as a DIY job?

Yes. Cable sections arrive factory assembled and tensioned, and rail kits mount to posts with a post jig that simplifies layout. Larger multi-level builds still benefit from an experienced deck contractor.

What Deck Owners Report

Feedback from homeowners and contractors who have lived with these aluminum systems through several seasons.

Man with dreadlocks portrait

Three winters on the lake and the textured black finish has not chalked or faded once. Rails feel rigid underfoot, and rinsing them twice a year is the whole maintenance routine.

Daniel R.

Young man looking away portrait

The Tuscany kits went up over a weekend with two people. Post jig kept everything plumb, hardware lined up on the first try, and the porch reads far more finished now.

Marcus T.

Smiling woman wearing glasses

Chose VertiCable so the river stays visible from the kitchen. Panels arrived tensioned, cables sit tight, and the bronze color matched the window frames almost exactly.
